Born in Cameroon, baritone Aurelien Mangwa started singing through considerable years in classical choirs, specifically in the Saint-Nicolas Classical Choir of the capital Yaoundé.
After graduating from high school, he went to Istanbul where he takes private lessons in singing and vocal techniques from Lynn Trepel, voice teacher at the Istanbul State Conservatory. He has a bachelor’s degree in singing from the Conservatoire Royal de Mons, Belgium in voice teacher Thierry Migliorini’s class. In the United States he takes private lessons from voice teacher Allan Glassman at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University: Music Conservatory. He will continue his studies in the Professional Studies Certificate program at San Francisco Conservatory of Music from the fall of 2024 in Cesar Ulloa’s singing studio.
Aurelien Mangwa earned a full scholarship to the opera training program at Berlin Opera Academy where he sang as Sarastro and Sprecher in Die Zauberflöte by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in August 2022. He also got a scholarship at Chicago Summer Opera, opera training program as Escamillo & Zuniga in Carmen by Georges Bizet in August 2023. He performed the role of Monsieur de Saint-Aiglefin in the operetta YES! by Maurice Yvain at Brussels Operette Theater in 2022. He was quickly invited to perform the baritone and bass parts in the Sacred Music repertoire.
