The Opera Festival of Chicago is thrilled to have the unique opportunity to feature the talented operatic husband and wife duo, Valeria Rodriguez and Maximiliano Illanes Campetella, in the roles of “The Lovers” in our production of “Il Tabarro”, this Thursday, August 5th.
Valeria Rodriguez and Maximiliano are both accomplished performers from Argentina who have performed all over the world with great success. This summer, Mr. Campetella will be preparing and singing the Verdian roles of Don Carlo in the opera “Don Carlo”, Arrigo in “I Vespri Siciliani”, Gabriele in “Simon Boccanegra” and Beatrice di Tenda by Bellini for Operavision Academy online editions. Some of his past performances include the Verdian role of Alfredo in “La Traviata” (online edition); and the Puccinian roles of Rodolfo in “La Bohème” (Evanston, IL), Pinkerton in “Madama Butterfly” (Sicily) and Rinuccio in “Gianni Schicchi” (Kansas).
As for Ms. Rodriguez, some of her recent performances include: the principal roles in “La Sonnambula” and “I Puritani” by Vincenzo Bellini, Violetta in “La Traviata”, and Elena in “I Vespri Siciliani” in the online version edition of Operavision Academy -Opera Labs 2021. In 2019 she joined the Opera Festival of Chicago to sing at a fundraising event in Chicago excerpts of “I Masnadieri”, “I Pagliacci” and “La Traviata” alongside tenor Allan Glassman, baritone Franco Pomponi and musical director Emanuele Andrizzi. She and her husband have now joined to bring their spectacular talents together for their roles as “The Lovers” in The Opera Festival of Chicago’s finale production of “Il Tabarro”.
