Carmen Vizin is a Hungarian-Mexican Mezzo-Soprano based in Chicago, Illinois. She has recently debuted as Dorabella in Harry Silverstein’s production of Così fan tutte with Mo. Emmanuele Andrizzi; she followed with her charming debut of Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro under the baton of Mo. Codrut Birsan (2023). Other notable operatic performances include her portrayal of Melanto in Monteverdi’s Return of Ulysses under the baton of Craig Trompeter, Dritte Dame in Berlin Opernfest’s production of Die Zauberflöte (2022), and Bradamante in Händel’s Alcina with Mo. Johannes Löhner (2021).
A second generation Hungarian, Carmen has performed concert repertoire with the Kelenvölgy Civil Cultural Salon and the annual Hungarian OrgonaPont Fesztivál, performing works ranging from Rimsky-Korsakov to Respighi with internationally-acclaimed Mezzo-Soprano Viktoria Vizin.
In the coming season, Carmen will be seen performing Mozart’s Requiem with Mo. Codrut Birsan, and will be presenting a solo concert, demonstrating the ideas of the concert title, “War and Peace”. She will make her return to the Opera Festival of Chicago this year, marking her second consecutive season with the festival.
