Elise Hurwitz, Quartet madrigal singers 

Elise Hurwitz (Monica, cover) is a Chicago-based soprano who will be returning for her second
season with Opera Festival of Chicago.

Ms. Hurwitz is an active member of the Lyric Opera of Chicago chorus, having most recently performed in Verdi’s Aida. She was previously a Studio Artist with Opera Neo, where she covered Bellezza in Handel’s Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno. She has performed several times as The Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, where she has been described as “an agile and convincing soprano” (San Diego Story). She was most recently seen in this role with Salt Marsh Opera. Other credits include Flora/The Turn of the Screw, Giannetta/L’elisir d’amore, Naiad/Ariadne auf Naxos, Papagena/Die Zauberflöte, and Erste Knabe/Die Zauberflöte.

Ms. Hurwitz graduated with both her Masters and Bachelors degrees in Vocal Performance from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music.
