Gisella Milla

Gisella Milla, a dynamic Peruvian soprano, praised for her vocal strength and emotional depth, she recently performed the role of Mrs. Gobineau in The Medium with the Opera Festival of Chicago. Her diverse credits include covering Monica in the same production, portraying Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz in With Blood, With Ink with the Third Eye Theatre Ensemble, and performing the role of Suor Angelica with Northeastern Illinois University. Additionally, she has appeared as a cover for Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, as La Calisto with Roosevelt University, and as a Madrigal singer in Manon Lescaut with the Opera Festival of Chicago. Gisella has also worked with Transgressive Theatre Opera, performed as part of the ensemble AdHoc with the New Berry Consort, and collaborated with the Consulate General of Peru in Chicago.

Gisella’s education and training span international programs, such as the AIMS Summer Program in Graz, Austria (2016), Orvieto Musica in Italy (2017), and Masterclass Ischia on the Island of Ischia (2022). She has also participated in the Viva Festival/Opera Project Columbus and the Premiere Opera Vocal Arts Institute virtually. An alumna of The Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, Gisella holds a Master’s degree from Northeastern Illinois University.

A recipient of the prestigious Presser Foundation Award, Gisella’s talent has earned her recognition in numerous competitions, including as a Semifinalist in the 2016 Meistersinger Competition (AIMS), Semifinalist in the 2021 Camerata Bardi International Voice Competition, and Semifinalist in the 2024 Music International Grand Prix. Most recently, she was thrilled to be named a Finalist in both the London Classical Music Competition and the New York Classical Music Competition.

With a growing presence in the opera world, Gisella is excited for the next chapters of her career, continuing to explore new roles and share her passion for music with audiences across the globe.
