Corrado, Il Corsaro
Praised for his “powerful vocal presence” (NRC Netherlands) and “shimmering high notes” (Seen and Heard International), in the 2022/2023 season, rising young Argentinian-Spaniard-American tenor Jose Simerilla Romero will join Teatro Lirico D’Europa and the Daytona Symphony as the Duke of Mantua in their production of Rigoletto, and will also be making his Florida Grand Opera debut as the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto. In addition, he will be making his debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic singing Jaquino in their upcoming production of Fidelio under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel, and returns to Nederlandse Reisopera singing Rodolfo in their upcoming production of La bohème. Furthermore, Mr. Romero will be making his debut with the San Francisco Symphony singing The Shepherd in their production of Oedipus Rex, and makes his debut with the Opera Festival of Chicago singing the role of Corrado on their upcoming production of Il Corsaro. Mr. Romero will also be joining Staatsoper Hannover in Germany for their 2022/2023 season singing the roles of Chevalier de la Force on their upcoming production of Dialogues des Carmélites, the role of Rodolfo on their upcoming production of La bohème, and the role of Tsarevich Gvidon on their upcoming production of The Tale of Tsar Saltan. He will also be making his Berlin debut singing Laërte with Komische Oper Berlin in their production of “Hamlet”.
