Heralding from Elmhurst, Illinois, Marguerite DiMarco is an 18-year-old soprano studying Neuroscience and Vocal Performance as an undergraduate at Northwestern University, and she is delighted to perform with the Festival Chorus in the first opera of her career! Marguerite’s recent performances include studying as a young artist with Bel Canto in Tuscany, singing in the ILMEA All-State Honors Chorus, playing the role of Paulette in BAM Theater’s Junior Theater Festival award-winning production of Legally Blonde, and competing with the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy’s student-run ensemble Mod21 in the International Championship of High School A Cappella. Currently, she holds a part-time position as a cantor at Immaculate Conception Parish and is looking forward to upcoming engagements with WFMT Radio’s Introductions program, and Northwestern’s Intensive Vocal Performance Seminar.
Outside of singing, Marguerite is a fervent advocate for arts education and delivered a TEDx Talk in January 2023 entitled “Not Just for Show: The Power of Youth Musical Theater to Change The World” that argues for musical theater’s developmental benefits amidst vast budget cuts, particularly in Chicago Public Schools. Above all, she wishes to thank her parents and teacher Lisa Griffith for their ongoing support and guidance.
