Samantha McGonigal is a mezzo-soprano from Columbus, Ohio. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice
Performance from Otterbein University, and is currently living in Chicago and working towards her Master’s of
Music at DePaul University where she is a student of Dr. Viktoria Vizin. Her recent roles include Zweite Dame in
Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with Miami Music Festival, Shirley Kaplan in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene, and Ruth in
Nico Muhly’s Dark Sisters with DePaul Opera Theatre, which won second place in its division at the NOA Opera
Production competition. This fall, Samantha made her role debut as Orfeo in Glück’s Orfeo ed Euridice at
DePaul University, and in March will sing the role of La Zia Principessa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica.
Samantha has enjoyed several performances in concert and choral works. At DePaul, she has performed solos
in Vivaldi’s Gloria, Perotti’s Vespero, and in Craig Hella Johnson’s Considering Matthew Shepard. In 2023, she
was a soloist with the Westerville Symphony in their performance of Orff’s Carmina Burana, and sang solo
excerpts from Messiah on their 2022 holiday concert. Her chorus work includes Tosca with Opera Columbus,
Mozart’s Requiem and Haydn’s Te Deum with the Westerville Symphony.
