Sierra Shoemaker is a lyric soprano from Monroe, Louisiana, with an immense passion for the arts. She graduated from Louisiana State University, earning a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. During her time at Louisiana State University, Sierra studied with Sandra Moon and performed in multiple opera and opera scenes productions, such as Dido & Aeneas (First Witch), Suor Angelica (Suor Genovieffa), and LSU Viva!Italia (Giannetta in L’elisir d’amore). Sierra premiered the roles of Emily Dickinson in LSU Master student Rodrigo Camargo’s Chamber Opera Emily Somebody and Carolyn Bryant in Charles Lloyd, Jr.’s Emmett Till. She has attended the Collaborative Piano Institute in 2021 and Musica nelle Marche in 2024. Currently, Sierra attends DePaul University in Chicago, studying with Jeff Ray, and is set to graduate with a Master of Music in June 2025. During her time at DePaul, she has performed in their production of Gianni Schicchi/Suor Angelica, as Lauretta/Suor Osmina, as well as scenes from Der Rosenkavalier as Sophie and Le Nozze di Figaro as Susannah. Sierra is excited to join Opera Festival of Chicago for their production of Pagliacci as a chorus member.
